Ann McCabe, Commissioner
Ann McCabe was appointed by Governor Pat Quinn on March 16, 2012 to a five year term on the
Illinois Commerce Commission.
McCabe has over 25 years of experience in energy and environmental policy in government,
non-profit and the private sector. Prior to her appointment she was a principal in her own consulting firm,
analyzing policies and regulations affecting fuels and refiners in Illinois, Indiana and the Midwest.
She previously served as Midwest regional director for The Climate Registry, recruiting companies and
organizations to voluntarily track and report greenhouse gas emissions. As a partner in Policy Solutions Ltd.,
she did policy analysis, outreach and advocacy on environmental and energy issues for trade associations, non-profits
and foundations.
McCabe‘s private industry experience includes managing regulatory issues for BP and Amoco.
Early in her career she worked as an Illinois budget analyst, an assistant to ICC commissioners and as
an associate director of the state of Illinois’ Washington D.C. office, where she focused on amendments to
the federal Clean Air Act.
She has been a board member of the Illinois Environmental Council and a founding member of the Foresight Sustainable
Business Alliance. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Williams College and a master’s degree in public policy from the University of Chicago.
