Illinois Highway-Rail Crossing and Collision Statistics at a Glance
The Map of Illinois provides county level summary statistics of the number and type of highway-rail crossings in each county as of January 2008.  Also shown is the number of collisions that occurred between trains and motorists/pedestrians during the five-year period of 2002 through 2007.

Click on the county you are interested in and a chart of summary statistics will appear on the right hand side of the screen.

The chart shows the total number of crossings and structures (bridges and underpasses) in the County selected, as well as total number of collisions between 2002 and 2007, and the relative percentage of both as part of the State’s total.  Beneath the County total, a breakdown by type of crossing (pedestrian, private and public) is provided.
Note:  Five of the 102 counties; Brown, Calhoun, Gallatin, Hardin, and Mercer, do not have any railroad lines within the County.
