Electricity is generated from various fuel sources. The information to which
you can link from this page is provided by all utilities and Alternative Retail
Electric Suppliers (ARES) to show the known sources of electricity that they
provide and the amount of certain emissions attributable to these known sources
of electricity.
Each quarter all utilities and ARES operating in Illinois are required to send
a bill insert to their customers that provides this environmental disclosure.
These firms are also required to provide the Illinois Commerce Commission with
this information for this webpage.
The requirements for these disclosures can be found in
83 Ill. Adm. Code 421, implementing Section 16-127 of the
Public Utilities Act [220 ILCS 5/16-127].
