On January 1, 2007, the transition to retail electric choice will officially end. Chairman Box initiated Illinois Energy Solutions forum in efforts to work with interested parties to develop ways to ensure that the transition period ends smoothly. Through Illinois Energy Solutions, the Commission intends to develop a common knowledge base for all interested parties to work from, conduct a dialogue with interested parties to determine the most appropriate methods for educating consumers about the new retail electric market and to develop protection plans, if necessary.
