Springfield, Illinois
The ICC headquarters is in Springfield, the state capital, which is centrally located within Illinois. The city's stable economy stems from a mix of government, service-oriented businesses, tourism, agriculture and light industry. Distinctive neighborhoods, schools and impressive housing compliment the professional opportunities available.

Springfield has a population of over 110,000 and is headquarters for several nationally known insurance companies, three hospitals, Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, University of Illinois-Springfield, and two colleges as well as more than 150 state, regional and national associations. Area public schools are among the finest in the state.

Interstate highways, a full-service airport and rail transportation provide access to major metropolitan centers such as St. Louis, 95 miles to the south, and Chicago, 200 miles to the northeast.

The city's 40 parks, 4,000-acre lake and public and private golf courses all provide numerous recreational opportunities. Considered the heart of the "Land of Lincoln," Springfield boasts many national historic sites, including Lincoln's Home, where he lived when elected President, and Lincoln's Tomb, the final resting place for our 16th President. Culturally, Springfield residents enjoy the city's Art Association, Ballet Company, Symphony, Muni Opera and numerous other artistic groups. Springfield is also the home of the Dana-Thomas House, one of Frank Lloyd Wright's most impressive architectural designs.

Springfield's cost of living is quite low. An employee earning $35,000 per year and living in the Springfield area would need to earn much more to maintain the same lifestyle in another locale:
