As a 28 year resident of University Park I am highly in favor of softer water for this community. Due to the quality of the water (hard) we have had to replace the water heater twice and I learned not to put this water in my iron..rusts it from the inside and spots up the clothes. Naturally all of my white things are filled with yellow spots which necessitates a constant replacing of white blouses. I won't even comment on how drying this water is to the skin.

I certainly hope soft water will be something that my village will experience very soon.

The water is horrible in University Park and is barely drinkable. The faucets get clogged with rust and lime scale, and it is not good for your skin. It would be nice to have a better quality of water coming out of the faucet than what comes out now.

I'm expressing my support for the Softened Water Certificate in University Park, IL We are paying too much money on our current water bill to have our water treated. However, we are able to drink our water. The hard water we have now damage our cloths, faucets, toilets and hair. I've spent too much money replacing my shower heads as well as my faucets in my kitchen and bathroom because of the hard water damage. Additionally, I spending numerous dollars on drinking water for my family.

Please consider a certificate of public convenience and necessity to construct, operate and maintain a water distribution system and a wastewater collection system in Will County, IL (University Park, IL).

i am commenting on the petition by aqua illinois, inc to expand its service area in will county. the certificate is necessary to build a pipeline to supply filtered and softened drinking water to agua customers in the university park division.
our water is unfit for drinking and unsafe for our health, showers, toilets and we have to buy water from water companys such as nice, niagara, hinckiey springs and others and putting a hardship on the families of our community. i am a resident for 23 years and very happy with its growth and hope that you give aqua illinois this certificate of public convenience to expand its services and build a pipeline to service university park with filtered and softened drinking water.

Our village is need of a better water system. We currently receive substandard water that causes rust in our toilets, and stains our clothing when washed. This same water we are supposed to use to cook our food, and bathe ourselves and children with. The water provided by Aqua is very expensive and is not quality water. When we run water for out bathtub the water is often yellow and this cannot possibly be safe for us. Please support providing better quality water for our village.

    To whom it may concern:

Since we've lived here within the last 5 years, our water has been horrible. It costs extra money to replace appliances, our dishwasher has broken, and the water softener system we moved in with us from Los Angeles was broken due to the harsh well water in the area.

Despite having the water softener, our water is still hard, it leaves calcium deposits, lyme and rust deposits around our new fixtures. When our children take a bath our water is yellow and has a rotten smell. Not only that, it's been very harsh on our skin, even with using lotion continuously, our skin is always dry because of the water.

We'd greatly appreciate you considering University Park getting the same quality water as our surrounding villages / communities. We can't afford to live here in our new home and replace appliances every year. Something has to change.

We were also under the impression that money had been added to our water bill the past few years that would cover this pipeline extension. Is this not the case?

Please allow this petition that was filled by aqua on March 27 to be approved in supplying the University Park aqua customers with softened water.

    Thank you,

    Dear Madam or Sir,
I think the best think to come to University park in a long time would be the pipeline. The water now is so hard it messes up the pipeline in the house. All the sinks look bad from the water and it has a nasty taste. This would greatly improve the life style with softer water. Food taste, cooking washing and drinking water. I now use a water filter system in order to get the best water.

    Thank you

I am submitting my confirmation that I am for the upgrade to softened water within University Park, Illinois. As one of the Trustees of the Village of University Park, I have been approached by several of my constituents expressing their concerns. Aqua has been in the village for years long enough to hear the concerns of the residents about the quality of the water. There is peaked curiosity about why now is there an opportunity for softened water? Why the short timeframe to complete the survey without a more in depth opportunity for discussion and questions from our residents directly to those with Aqua Illinois? I appreciate you assisting me with understanding. I appreciate you providing me with explanations in support of their residential concerns.

I am in support of the necessary steps to bring softened water to the Village of University Park. It has been very difficult to live with the present water conditions. Residents often must buy water to drink and/or cook. It has been many times that residents have replaced appliances and water heaters due to the hardened water that we now have. I have often smelled the water and it is not pleasant on certain days. We as residents pay a hefty monthly water bill to have less than quality drinking water. Please pass this certificate of public convenience to allow all residents to have better and safer water.

    Thank You.

Bottom line we need better water because here is the lasting effect... the water we have now ruins washing machine, water heater, all the sinks and bath tubs, even our purified system...The water we have now ruins the pipes and the pipes start leaking in the walls and creates mold...which is harmful to most kids...Its only a matter of time before it is proven that this bad water is having a negative effect on our bodies as we take baths and showers....So we need you to approve the petition that would allow Aqua to install a pipeline to provide the vilage of university park with the same softened water Aqua currently provides to our kankakee county residents...

Please allow Aqua Illinois to build the additional pipeline towards University Park. This is our community's opportunity to be supplied with better, softened water from the Kankakee River. Your approval of the Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity to Construct will greatly enhance the quality of life for University Park and its anticipated commercial growth. The new pipeline would also enhance the water capacity needed for supplying the student residents living on Governors State University's campus beginning in Spring 2014. We've waited over 40 years for the chance to have a high quality of water. Please grant us the opportunity to have great drinking water in our community. Thank you!

    Good evening,
I am a resident of the Village of University Park and I have just learned that Aqua Illinois, Inc. is petitioning to received this certificate to extend its service area to the Village of University Park. Currently the communities of Peotone, Monee and Wilmington in Will County are receiving a much higher quality of softened water from Aqua's Kankakee Division than the Village of University Park. These communities are opposing this certificate. How can these communities stop the expansion of quality water for my town? We deserve the same quality of water that they receive. We all live in Will County and are serviced by the same company. I understand that the ICC must address all opposition but this is clearly not fair to the people of University Park. The Village of University Park deserves the same high quality of softened water that is extending to all communities in Aqua's service area. We pay for our water too! Please allow Aqua Illinois, Inc. to receive this certificate for the people of University Park. Thank you.

I have lived in University Park for over 26 years. I love my community, but my one complaint has been the water in which we pay a high cost to have. My white clothes are yellow, my toilets have brown rings in them, and the water is not fit for drinking. It would be nice to be able to have softer water in our community.

Providing an allowing this pipeline to be install is a major milestone for this day and time an a great benefit to the community of University Park. The water in this community is awful and down right filthy for what we as tax payers and customers pay for. The additional salt and cleansing supplies that we purchase is very costly not to mention the water bill itself. Thjs something that very well needed.

I greatly support softened water in University Park. I've been a resident of University Park for over 15 years, and the water supply is very hard - it also ruins and discolors sinks, toilet bowls and tubs. I do not drink the water, so I have to purchase bottled which can be very costly.

I am in support of the softened water supply for university park. The water is awful, it leaves your skin very dry and terrible water spots. I often times wanted to buy a water softener filtering system, however, it was just not in the budget. Please do something better with the water supply to make it better.
  • August 30, 2013

I agree that Aqua should install a pipeline to provide the village of University Park with filtered and softened drinking water. My water bill is high, but the water is not good to drink unless I filter it. I have a water softener and I have to waste money on salt for it but my dishes still don't get as clean as they should and yellow stains form in my sink and toilet because of the water.

  • August 30, 2013

It is very necessary to build a pipeline to supply filtered and softened drinking water to the Aqua customers in University Park. I pay over a hundred dollars a month for water and I don't drink it or cook with it due to it's harshness. I have a filter on my refrigerator and there is always hard water stains on the dispenser despite the filtration system. I have three children in my household including a six month old. My family deserves cleaner softer water just as much as the other Aqua customers in the opposing communities. It is very expensive to pay these high water bills as well as supply water for drinking due to the quality of water that I am receiving. This must be done!!

  • August 30, 2013

I'm opposed to the proposed new pipeline for Aqua Illinois because the villagers will be paying to build it. In the past the cost of infrastructure work done by Aqua has been extremely high for the village. The water bill is already astronomical - sometimes $300 a month. It is out of line with what University Park residents can afford. Also, the water quality is poor. I am opposed to Aqua's pipeline.

I have purchased five different contraptions in my home so that my family and I can have safe water. The water we use to bath, cook, drink and clean with is poor quality. The water has a strong taste and odor. As a business man I travel to other communities and witness what life should be like with safe and excellent water quality. The residents of University park have the right to affordable high quality water. I want the ICC to approve the installation of the pipeline to soften the water. Aqua?¢??s rates are too high at the moment for poor quality water. I hope the new pipe lines improve the quality of water and lower rates.

  • August 28, 2013

I see there are three communities that oppose the installation of the pipeline to provide softened water to the Village of University Park. I don't understand why Peotone, Monee and Wilmington have against soften water. Monee's water is worst than University Park, I have a relative that moved from Monee because they could not get use to the taste.

Maybe Peotone, Monee, Wilmington think that white cloths are supposed to be gray, drinking water is supposed to taste like fish or sewerage, or maybe they don't mind replacing different appliances every few years, well I like for my whites to be white, I'd like to be able to drink and cook with water that come from the faucet and not have to buy bottles of water or have water delivered, which cost me extra money, money I would rather send on more important things.

In addition to that I don't think that other communities should stand in judgment of other communities on weather they should have good water for drinking, cooking, taking a bath, and washing.

I implore you to give AQUA the certificate they applied for, I'm in support of their effort, to help the Village of University Park. Please don't allow other communities be the determining factor on your decision regarding the Village of University Park.

    Thank you so much .

    To whom it may concern:
I have been a resident of University Park for over 25 years and all during that time have experienced very poor water quality. The water stains are toilets, eats up our plumbing fixtures and hot water heaters and tastes horrible! We have complained to Aqua water for years and finally when they have a proposed solution to our community's problem, we have other communities who are trying to prevent us from getting softened water.

We are a largely minority community and the additional cost of having to deal with this poor water quality further increases are costs and lowers the quality of our lives. The only other alternative is one that is cost prohibitive, as our water bills are already too high.

I would appreciate if the Illinois Commerce Commission would override the concerns of other communities and allow Aqua water to install the pipeline for our community.

    Thanking you in advance.

I completely agree with the "Petition for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity to Construct, Operate and Maintain a Water Distribution System and a Wastewater Collection System in areas of Kankakee and Will Counties, Illinois".

I, Naomii Brack, am petitioning for Aqua Illinois to bring a better water system to University Park, Illinois. We can not drink our water, the water that runs through our plumbing systems has rust and dirt, which stains our toilets, walls, clothing, and sinks. As a resident who suffers from Lupus, the hard water is really terrible on my skin and the order effects my respiratory system. Please grant a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity to Construct, Operate and Maintain a Water Distribution System and a Waterwaste Collection System for our area. Thank you.
