My name is Michael Vrtis i am the President of Realgy, LLC. Realgy is a registered Alternative Retail Electric Suppliers (ARES) and Alternative Gas Supplier in Illinois. We serve commercial, institutional and business customers.
As part of Realgy’s ARES service we install and operate, without cost to the business, solar energy generation. In 2011, Realgy completed 2 projects one in Evanston and the other St. Charles. Each power plant consists of 158 solar panels. When combined together each the solar panels have an installed capacity of 74.8 kw and will produce about 97,337 kwh each year for the next 25 years. The value of the energy is about $9,0000/year and will displace about 68,136 pounds of carbon dioxide and 262,810 lbs of coal emissions. The specifics of each site are as follows;
kwh lbs co2 lbs coal
Evanston 48,907 34,235 132,049
St. Charles 48,430 33,901 130,761
Total 97,337 68,136 262,810
Realgy supports the ICC in directing the IPA to hold workshops. Please direct the IPA to develop a study identifying all the grid benefits from solar and distributed energy.
Realgy's investment in solar energy provides economic benefit to business in the state and as you can see provides environmental benefits far in excess of the project’s economic benefits.
Expansion of our solar programs to more business in Illinois (we serve 4 states) will be accelerated with a business net metering and renewable energy credit program.
Thank you for your consideration.
