What and Where::
According to the company, the Rock Island Clean Line is a 500-mile overhead high voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission line that will
deliver 3,500 megawatts from northwest Iowa and the surrounding region to communities in Illinois and other states to the east.

Why::
Rock Island Clean Line LLC cites new investments in renewable energy projects, economic development, reduction of carbon dioxide pollutants,
additional tax revenues for local governments, and lower energy prices resulting from increased completion in support of the transmission line project.

Process::
Rock Island Clean Line LLC submitted a petition with the ICC October 10 to act as a transmission public utility and to construct, operate and maintain an electric transmission line in Illinois.
The ICC will arrive at a decision in the case after considering evidence and testimony from all parties to the case. Information about the case
may be found on the ICC’s e-Docket system under docket 12-0560. Interested persons may ask to intervene in the ICC proceeding. By intervening,
a person may submit into the record of the case evidence and argument regarding the project. Rules for intervening may be found here:

Landowner Information:
Rock Island Clean Line LLC, as required, included a preferred route and alternate route with its petition for the transmission line.
Each of the landowners affected by these routes receive notices
from the Chief Clerk of the ICC that explain the ICC’s regulatory process
governing the proposed transmission line and information concerning acquisition of land or land rights-of-way by the transmission public utility.
